One initiative of the Benedictine Community was the establishment in 1991 of an Archives, Research and Publications Committee.

Objectives of the ARP Committee:

1. To work within the vision, aims and purposes of the Benedictine Community of New Norcia.
2. To prepare and oversee programmes of work for the Archives of New Norcia.
3. To institute, direct, oversee and monitor research projects based on the Archives of New Norcia.
4. To make such appointments as are appropriate to projects so instituted.
5. To publish and cause to be published the scholarly outcomes of research based on the Archives of New Norcia.
6. To promote the appropriate use of New Norcia's historical resources for educational purposes in schools and universities and for public education in Australia.
7. To raise funds for the implementation of Archival, Research and Publication programmes.

The Archives, Research and Publications Committee has considered a wide range of possible projects for the conservation, listing, research and publication of materials held in the archive.
