New Norcia was founded in 1846 as a an Aboriginal Mission by Dom Rosendo Salvado OSB. Continuing the Benedictine tradition of educaiton the New Norcia Education Centre provides a variety of ‘hands-on’ education programs for students of all ages. We open the doors of New Norcia to over 3500 students each year on organised educational visits. A fulltime Education Officer and team of dedicated staff and monks who provide a snapshot of the Life of a Monk, Aboriginal Studies and Art. A wide range of educational activities are provided for the Soceity and Environments and Art subject areas for the use by primary and secondary students. Our aim is to make each students visit to New Norcia an enjoyable and valuable learning experience, creating an understanding of what they see and encouraging questions. |
